Established in 1993
—
It started 30 years ago, when founders George and Spiro went for lunch at the location on the majestic river and fell in love with it instantly. The passion for fresh, seasonal food and uncompromising service has continued to be unwavering and is alive 30 years later.
The evolution of Lugarno Seafood is clear in both the food, service and decor. Starting with classic dishes in the early 1990’s, it has grown into a fully fledged, technical, fine dining modern Australian seafood venue, rivalling the best in the city. Simple yet undeniably refined; the classics are still singing in the incarnations of market fresh seafood delivered daily. Whilst offering the best of local seafood produce, dishes from the land such as Grass Fed Eye Fillet and our juicy Tasmanian Lamb Back strap sourced from local butcheries act as a perfect partner, highlighting Australia’s finest from the farm to the ocean. If these choices prove to be a hard decision, our signature ‘Hot & Cold Seafood Platter’ will leave you reeling. An extensive wine and cocktail list partner seamlessly with a knowledgeable and experienced cast of waiters.
The decor remains current, yet a reminder of a romantic period of late twentieth century art deco with classic stained glass windows at the entrance and paintings from the early years lavished over freshly updated details (with more on their way this year). It is the fusion of the best from both the past and future that make this institution a timeless, unpretentious, approachable and hugely followed classic.
The hours stretch harmoniously from 12pm straight through till 11pm allowing for our famous late lunches and dinners as you gaze at the body of water named after lake ‘Lugano’ in Switzerland, but those whom have set their eyes on the mesmerising Georges river know there is no superlative to the gem of the south.
